Peter, are you going to try that? I would be very interested to hear how you get on, as I haven't got round to plugging mine back into the network yet, so I've got that "fix" ready to go, so to speak!

How often were/are you getting reboots/how easy will it be to tell if it's resolved the problem or not?

    Cheers,

    Matt.

Been watching this thread for a while, had my HDR1000S for two years now and never had any issues at all, hope I haven,t tempted fate.

Matt - yes I've already disconnected it from my router and will reconnect it tomorrow morning. It was me that started this trhead quite some time ago now. I hadn't been noticing many reboots recently, but I do suspect they have been happening during the day when I wasn't actually watching TV. The one I experienced last evening was the first for several weeks. Only time will tell if this latest suggested solution from Fressat has worked.

After my last reboot episode last night, I emailed both Humax and Freesat. I have just received this response from Freesat:
"We would recommend disconnecting the Humax box from your internet router overnight and then reconnecting the following day. This should hopefully resolve the issue."

Well that's four alternatives to my knowledge, format hard drive, restore factory settings, disconnect from router and leave overnight and finally wait for software update. Why does the term clutching at straws come to mind.

I feel you have not quite undersold them sufficiently with your post. What it should have read was 'not got a bloody clue'.

I've given up and bought a VU+ Duo2 box. Nearly every firmware revision freesat have made for Humax has a bug of some sort or another and it tails back years. I really love the freetime epg and interface but enough is enough

Put my 1000s on last night to find it had completely locked up while recording, remote did nothing and the standby button on the front wouldn't turn it off either. So I pulled the plug once the recording had stopped and once plugged back in and rebooted it behaved itself for a couple of hours.
Next time I'm going to threaten to replace it with a VU+ Duo2 with 4 tuners and see if that helps.

I can count on the fingers of one hand the problems I have experienced with our 1000s in three years and even then all very minor.

I do wonder why a small percentage of owners appear to have all these 'apparent issues'. It reminds me very much of computer forums. Most people never experience issues at all whereas for others computers are a constant headache.

    Is there a pattern here?

If our 1000s went tits up today then I would have no hesitation in buying another.

That's the first full lockup I've had in ages, I did have to turn it off/on the other day to get the mini guide to populate and I have had a few reboots but as my box carries on recording they aren't a major problem. I was having 3 a day during the Olympics and didn't bother to post about it.
I personally wouldn't buy another 1000s HDR as I'm guessing it would have to be dodgy second hand one

Happening at least twice a day now on my both my 1100s HDR's. I have my auto power off set to off so box never switches off, just changed to on so will see if that makes a difference.

They all lock up from time to time i.e. won't respond to remote or anything other input. This is easily solved by pulling the plug for a few minutes. It's no different to a computer crash, which is effectively what it is.

I note the 1100S models appear to be more prone to problems if this forum is anything to go by.
