I am in the UK, and mine started playing up again last night. Last time I took it back to Currys and they changed it on their 'no quibble' policy. If this persists I will go and change it again. It may not be a faulty machine, but Humax can keep having it back till they sort this out.

If the problem is to do with environmntal factors, repeatedly changing the box seems unlikely to help.

Just out of curiosity are all these affected units used outside of the UK?
If so then I'd imagine Humax maybe limited in what they can do anyway considering Freesat only support Freesat boxes for use within the UK.A non-uk based external influence !
As a test I placed a potato and a Guinness on top of mine this evening and it's been fine, maybe somebody from France could try something similar with a baguette, some Brie and a glass of wine !Baguettes cause way too much interference, croissant's however have much better shielding properties

Changing the box may not help, but if enough people did it then perhaps Humax would do something, or Currys would bring pressure to bear.
I am now finding as many review pages as I can to warn potential buyers of this problem.
I am not a tech wiz kid, so do not understand how the satellite signal can make my box freeze, and Humax say it is not their fault, and can do nothing about it.

Ridiculous comments
Humax are fully aware of the issue and trying to identify the cause, not an easy task when the 'lock outs' are infrequent - they have not washed their hands of the problem,

Just a little pointless from your point of view, I would have thought. However, I can understand the frustration. You could try ringing Freesat, see if they have a view.

I am not a tech wiz kid, so do not understand how the satellite signal can make my box freeze, and Humax say it is not their fault, and can do nothing about it.So what exactly can Humax do, unless they can replicate the issue your having there's nothing for them to fix.
Seems a bit OTT to hunt out review pages just to put people off from buying this Humax box.Appologies if this has been asked before, but has anybody tried to rule out the Humax remote control by using a One For All type remote to see if that produces the same problem?

Surely the satellite signal can indeed influence how the box behaves, as, for example, it can completely replace the firmware during overnight housekeeping, without our being aware…

If the fault was with the remote, why do the controls on the box not work either?

Surely any firmware update that we 'are not aware of' comes from Humax, not the satellite owner.
