I played the early evening news (at 1715) and very quickly it jumped back to the football. So it would seem that this is not region related.

If this is easy to reproduce then it should be reported to the BBC as a complaint.

Well, I don't seem to have any problem reproducing it, but the lack of others, bar one, saying "me too" is a bit odd.

Also, should it be reported to the BBC or Humax? - Usual problem, of course.

    Edit:
I have just reported this to "BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds Support".
We will see what response I get.

This was my report to them:
Feedback Summary - Problem watching BBC1 live
Feedback Description - I am trying to use live BBC1 so that I can view a different news region to that available on my Freeview transmitter. I set it up for BBC Southeast. I start watching at 1800 to run through into the SE regional news at 1830. Almost invariably it plays the live programme for 2 or 3 minutes and then jumps back about 2 hours, usually into The Bidding Room. I have tried another region as an experiment (Channel Islands) and had the same problem.

A previous thread on this subject from December 2019. No resolution reported then.

The same problem has been reported on Roku/NowTV sticks and some Freesat TVs. The same fault was reported on Amazon Firesticks but seems to have gone away.

It seems to be happening on programmes which are live being watched behind time but when the programme is still on-air.

I had forgotten about this until it happened again in the middle of the World Cup Final. three times switched channels - BBC2 and BBC News. Then jumped back 2 hours.

Tried my Amazon stick (which took all of half time to sort itself out). No issues with jumping about but the picture quality was nowhere near as good.
    I've reported it too.

I have had a useless reply from the BBC. Despite the detailed description (see Post 11) their (very long) reply starts:

"Thank you for contacting BBC iPlayer support.

I understand you have the iPlayer app on your TV and you continue to have programmes pause on you and your screen keeps going blank."

This is, of course, wrong in all respects. They then go on to make suggestions which seem to be for a report relating to Internet connection problems, which I do not have.

I attempted to reply, but the address is unmonitored. I will have to go back to the 'Contact BBC' web site to try and find a way of replying.

I have just opened a new report to the BBC, but was faced with a 750 character limit, whereas my bounced email was over 1800. So I just said that I need to reply, but cannot with that limit. I will await a response.

I have, finally, managed to send the full, 1800+ character, text of my response to them via a different webform which they supplied. I await a response and hope it is more sensible than their last.

I ended my reply with the following:

"This problem would appear to lie with the BBC and not with viewers' equipment setup, though it may relate to how Humax recording boxes interact with iPlayer.

I believe that this problem needs to be investigated by BBC engineers working with a Humax FVP 5000T in order to carry out the checks."

@Ricinus The iPlayer team have said:

"We haven't received other reports of issues our viewers are having with the same model of device you are using, which would usually point to the issue being local to your device."

    Any thoughts on that?
