Iplayer is now working on my HB-1100S, but not youtube. Strange, since it's not listed on the Humax page as one of the boxes no longer supporting youtube.

I can't understand what the change is, as there doesn't seem to have gone through a software update.
Strangely, I played around with the DNS settings on my router a couple of days ago, which briefly brought back youtube. But trying the same settings that worked later on didn't bring it back again.

The subtitles seem to be working on iplayer now. Previously, they would work sometimes, with no clear pattern on when they would work. I haven't seen any mention of the subtitle problem, has anyone else had it?

The problem was never on the boxes so no need to change anything there, a change was made either at the BBC or at Humax and that stopped all the Humax boxes working. Humax have now either rolled back a failed (not properly tested) update, or they have now changed something to work with a change at the BBC end - we'll never know which.

I am currently viewing a programme on iPlayer, on my Humax HDR-1000S, and I did not have to change anything to do so. Hurrah!
But, I now cannot view YouTube, which I could before. I have the same problem as others: "you are being directed to youtube.com" and then shows 12 grey boxes. Boo!
Humax's statement implies they have rolled back to a previous release of something somewhere: "the service has now been temporarily restored"

    https://uk.humaxdigital.com/humax-service-announcements/
The above announcement page also mentions "Notice of termination of the YouTube app" and lists boxes affected. My HDR-1000S is not among them but I have a problem nevertheless.
That Humax no longer make Freesat boxes is troubling.

The iPlayer app on my FVP-5000T box was updated yesterday afternoon, and the versions of several components had changed since the day before. That may have made it work, and possibly this comment in a previous post might explain it: "a certificate embedded in the firmware associated with iPlayer that expired on the 28th September 2020 might be significant."

The announcement about YouTube service termination on the Humax Service Announcements page dates back to mid-2019.

I "double posted" my comment above by mistake. I've edited the text of the second copy to say what you are reading now. Does anyone know how to delete a post?

Is anyone complaining to Humax about YouTube? Their email is uksupport@humax-digital.co.uk . I don't think comments on these forums are seen by Humax and you need to contact them directly to get their attention.
Also this thread is predominantly about BBC iPlayer. There is a separate thread for YouTube. See https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/youtube-re-directing/page/3?replies=30#post-80502

Struggling to change the DNS settings on the FVP-5000T.

Using manual I cant enter either

Google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 I cant enter a single digit without adding leading zeros

    or

    Open DNS 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.

I can't try turning off the router for at least 12hrs. Grandsons girl friend is working from home.

    Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Managed to enter open DNS settings - trick was to fill each first with zeros.

Internet is connected and tests OK

Problem though still no backwards epg data.

    Trying the google dns numbers.
