Just got a 1100S, so far I like it although dissapointing the latest software update was from July I would of thought a platform like this should be having more regular updates. Is there any active development or roadmap?

Things that annoy me, having to click twice when you select channel, yes I know you can enter the channel number direct when you memorise them but to me it never makes sense to click twice to select a channel. The other options when you click to change (Audio Options, Close Menu, Record, About) should be accessible in a different way, they are almost pointless, most people won't need to ever change Audio options, record can be done with the R button, about is just a bigger version of clicking i button twice and close Menu, well there is and exit button for that, its a pointless menu that slows down channel changing.

Favourites also seems a bit of a faff, you create them but then they seem buried, you have to go TV Guide, List and the Up to Favorites. Would be nice to have Favourites attached to a coloured button that pops them up straight away.

As for bugs, some odd things happening, when I try to go earlier I get a pop-up now again telling me I need a 2mb conenction even though the box is connected via ethernet. I don't like the scaling zoom of the picture, it unessecary and just about works, seems the box is a lttle underpowerd to do it smoothly.

However all said I was using a Virgin Tivo before this which was dreadful, this is much better but also could be so much better.

I also found the operating system on the 1100s very annoying. I sent mine back because it was also freezing and rebooting randomly too, but considering it's the latest model, that you would expect to have evolved to near perfection, I was very disappointed. According to those in the know, a lot of the things I moaned about were due to Freesat rather than Humax, but whoever is responsible it don't think it's good enough. I've now switched to an old HDR Fox T2, and the operating system on that is miles better IMO.

I have the earlier model - the 1000s. Mine is now 4 years old and TBH faults are what I read about on this forum as my own has been pretty fault free (touch wood). I would agree the UI could be cleaner though and it's not for want of asking Freesat either.

I can't agree with Geoff_T point of view though about the Fox T2 being a better operating system though. For me it would be like trading in the latest Fiesta for an old Escort. Do we really want to be looking back?

I am with Geoff-T the HDR-FOX-T2 especially with the custom firmware is a lot more user friendly. At least you can display recordings in date/time order consistantly. The G2 media list display is an inconsistant disaster. Try recording something like Father Brown with multiple series using the same series crid and with episode numbers. When episode numbers are present lowest irrespective of date goes to the top of the list, so in the above example you get Series 1 Episode 1 top of the list followed Series 2 Episode 1 etc. Without episode numbers order is reversed on same day when two programmes recorded. Then you have the broadcasters inconsistantly using episode numbers and then not or resetting the episode numbers on long running programmes. It's utterly ridicolous all it needs is a sort on earliest date and earliest times on that date.

Then there is the annoying loss of resume if you watch in chasing playback and quit before the recording has finished, this works on all other Humax pvrs I have owned.

Your analogy presumes that the new is an improvement on the old. In the car world that is generally true, but it certainly isn't in this case. I couldn't believe how bad and unintuitive the operating system was on the 1100s. I came from a Sky box and the 1100s was a massive step backwards from that. The T2 with custom firmware is a step forward even though it's older.

I've said before on here that the resume works perfectly under all circumstances, so you either don't know how to get your recordings to resume or your box is faulty. Which one is it ?

Well as it has had the problem following a software update and all subsequent ones I doubt the box is faulty.

How you can suggest I don't know how to resume is frankly pretty stupid. When you select the recording in the media list resume is either an option or it is not.

The recording indicator also shows the episode is unwatched.

It happens to be something I do quite often on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings, go out to play Badminton about 19:20 while watching the 19:00 ITV-HD soap in chasing playback.

I leave the box on and turn off the TV, so that the sound via the AV receiver is a burglar deterrent.

On return around 21:00 resume is never available. I will set up a test tommorow on ITV-HD and post details before I do so so hopefully someone else will try and replicate.

The short version is ignore the unwatched recording indicator, just highlight recording and press the play button on the remote.

    The long version is...

I suggest doing a little experiment, start a recording then part way through start to watch it (via the buffer i.e. rewind live TV a little or just press pause or via the proper recordings list if you prefer). Take a mental note of where it should resume and press stop and allow the recording to finish recording. Then go to your recordings highlight the recording in question and press the PLAY button.

No need to waste time highlighting the recording and pressing okay to get options up, it won't give you the option to resume as you already know. Just press the play button every time unless you want to watch a recording from the start.

Let us know if all scenarios resume.

One of my previous posts on this subject, never got a reply.

That is a whole new test. I will try both. The fact remains the procedure works on all the other Humax boxes. At the very least the resume option should be there as on all other Humax boxes.
