Thanks Graham, I have many Hummy's and they are (mostly) set to dofferent RC channels. The 5000t is switching itself on and off when no remote is being used. I wondered whether they might be cross chatting and have purposefully moved them all off the sofa!
I'll keep my eye on it for a day or so.
Does your note imply that others have reported this ...... I haven't read all 200 posts!

There is a precedent with the Humax manufactured DTR-4000T which switches on with any of the 6 Humax HD remote modes for 'on/off' and also with the PVR-9200T, 9150T and 9300T remotes' 'on/off' button.

    Thanks ....

I have just tried switching my other main box my BT box on and off a few times but it doesn't appear to be switching the 5000t at the moment. Is there any evidence that once another coded RC switches it on that any other buttons on the unintended RC is controlling the 4000t?

All I can say is that I observed my 5000T boot from sby (Red to Blue) while using my Harmony remote controlling my Yamaha AV Receiver, LG Blu-ray player and Panasonic TV.

It's not repeatable by the way, so hard to track down.

It also happened while using my HDR-1000S with my Harmony (HDR-1000S is mode 1, 5000T mode 2). Also not repeatable.

I was also able to repeat (but not every time) using the original HDR-1000S remote.

After checking on a different issue (extended recording when using padding)

I observed that if the box is booted with the aerial out after overnight shutdown the epg is blank. After booting with the aerial in and repeating the above the epg is populated so the epg is buffered but apparently the buffer is cleared overnight. To ensure the epg is populated before the first recording of the day the power on/off timer ensures the epg is populated,

This may be a pure coincidence, but since using the above power on/off sequence not had a repeat of the 5000T waking up when it shouldn't. It also stopped an issue attempting to wake the box during the first recording of the day.

    Thanks Graham,

So the procedure is intended to ensure that the epg is populated for the day?

Correct, quite why it appears to stop the box booting by itself not sure, as I said it might be a coincidence. If you have the same timer at least we will know if you get a repeat it's not fixed.

Pretty sure (based on a post from a 4000T owner) if you use padding and go away for more than 7 days the box stops recording. The daily wake up should stop that happening.

    Thanks,

I've just switched back to the box input and it appears to have switched itself back on. It isn't an issue so long as no other RC inputs unwanted commands. I have tried using all the other RCs but none of them appear to switch the 5000t on or off so it is a puzzle. It may be the HDMI switch I'm using so I might isolate that to see.

    Thanks again fir your help.

This morning the box had switched otself on but in the guide there were only HD channels. Checked through all the settings options including favourites and nothing gave a hint why this had happened. I completed a smart retune and all the stations reappeared.
