Has the problem mysteriously gone away?
Had a 9300 on V19 for the last hour, and it has not locked up.

I have tried updating via null modem cable and flash9200 I get it starting and then reporting "waiting for 2" and an error code on the screen of E-UT
My system ID shows as 4847.5a7d
Update date jan 13 2010
software version 1.00.19
Now what have I done wrong??
Your sys id is corrupt, and you will have to upload/fix that first.
If you send me a private message with an email address I can send the file you need or I can send it to the email addy you registered with, your call.

Post #125 suggests the same, maybe the DTT changes you mentioned in post #15 have been unchanged.

Almost exactly 24 Hours from whence the problems started, strange that.
Humax Towers are testing an even earlier version, and they are reporting same to me.
This forum has been an absolute godsend !!
Both of our 9300s went down at 10.00 yesterday, and we wasted half a day with the user manual.
Then tried Humax telephone customer service - 27th in the queue and no way to register for a call-back!
Checked the Humax UK web-site - no mention whatsoever of the problem.
Telephoned the supplying retailer - John Lewis - to be told that they had just (16.15) received an e-mail from Humax admitting to the problem. No advice about what to do, or information on how the problem was being addressed.
Sent an e-mail to Humax e-mail customer services - no response.
Late last evening, found this forum; learned about the problem and a possible solution.
Tried the power cycle / rapid software update / default settings restore method this morning and, after a couple of false starts, it worked.
Thank you so much !!
What I can't understand is that, despite the PVRs being set to automatically check for software updates at 04.00 daily, they were running Version 18 software !!
Needless to say I have sent a VERY strong e-mail to the MD of Humax UK - though I don't expect to get a response!
Once again, thank you so much for being the only useful web presence throughout this whole sorry matter.
I have bookmarked the forum for future reference!
Regards,
John Isherwood.

You have done nothing wrong however the System ID is definitely wrong and needs to be corrected. What model of Humax do you have?

Are your 9300s in STANDBY at the auto update time (4am by default)? They need to be for the auto update check to take place. For some reason many people leave their boxes switched ON 24/7 and so their boxes don't update.
many thanks for all your help. Now back up and working.
Great - if only they would give it the functionality of the original Tivo !! Mine still works alongside the Humax and is better for some things.
Still, at least it is all back up and running, thanks to you
