To be fair I think most of these problems are not the fault of Humax, the bulk of the programming is written by Linux.
However Humax should be complaining like crazy to Linux, all this is causing lost sales ... and money.

LOL! Linux is an operating system, so you use a programming language to write the code under the umbrella of the Linux OS. Very similar to the way you write your wholly incorrect post in English within the umbrella of this forum.
The code belongs to the Freeview Consortium who then provide it to Humax who load it onto their hardware running Linux. In my view a wholly stupid business model, but that's another topic.

The software on the FVP-5000T will be comprised of three main components: the Linux kernel, a number of Open Source packages and a piece of proprietary software written by Humax. I would very much doubt that any of the issues with box are to do with problems in the standard kernel code although as Humax do make modifications to the kernel, a few problems could be present in those changes. I would suggest the vast majority of issues are in the Humax written code.

    All really helpful stuff chaps.

I do not really care whether it is code written by Linux, Freeview, Humax or the little man in quasi moon kernal.

It does not work ... someone put it right

You seem to be right on with social norms in forums. Perhaps some investment in understanding the subject of your posts would be helpful.

I will add another one ...
The remote, like all Humax remotes, is terrible.

The RC buttons often have to be pressed multiple times to get it to register.

Why do you think all Humax remotes are terrible? I am happy with the remote for the HDR-FOX T2 which is still giving good service after 7 years.

Which model remote control do you have? I have no problems with the RM-L03 supplied with my box.

Oporus, it Just may be that you are a bit unlucky with your remote control.

Ours came with our 5000t and it works just fine.
Also, a friend of ours is very happy with the remote that came with her 4000t.
