Graham: That is not the point. Forget talking about using other devices and casting. This is about using the 5000T (and other Humax boxes) without involving anything else for those of us without the other devices.
If you try to search for Andre Rieu (or many other things just using the Humax box) it doesn't work.

If you try to search for Andre Rieu (or many other things just using the Humax box) it doesn't work. It's not using other devices. The 5000T takes over the stream direct from YouTube. Once done you can close YouTube on the phone. The 5000T remote controls playback, not the phone.
I did a search for you using ah and was able to play back the aha video found.
It's just easier to use a mobile device. How many do not have smart phones these days ?

The phone is not sending the video. The video is coming from YouTube not the phone. Just the same as if you searched using 5000T and pressed play.
If you play back Youtube on your iphone. Do you not have a small tv icon. If you click on it do you not see the FVP-5000T server in the destination list ?
If you have a G2 freesat unit that should also be listed.
In any case I did as you asked I searched for a video and was able to play it back without using anything else.
Playing back now after passing the stream ant turned off the phone. Made no difference at all. Only the 5000T remote can pause etc.

Graham, as A1944 says, forget about casting from another device, that's like telling someone to cycle to work because their car is broke, the end result may be the same but their car is still broke.
Even your own photograph shows the top line of letters is missing in the search. And having to use the "X" button is not the normal way to stop playback.| Tue 17 Nov 2020 11:23:53 #238 | -

Even your own photograph shows the top line of letters is missing in the search. And having to use the "X" button is not the normal way to stop playback. You are missing the point. I was able to search for a video as requested and was able to play it back. I used the x key because I did not want to watch the content so did not bother with the back key.
And once more I am not casting from another device simply telling the 5000T to play back this stream from Youtube. The end result is the same as searching on the 5000T. Same stream from Youtube. Once the 5000T has taken over the required video stream the phone is doing nothing.
How come I can turn the phone off and the video continues.
Basically I can find and playback Youtube content on a 5000T using a workaround that still works while the problem is sorted out.
Incidentally the issue is also present on a HDR-1000S suggesting the problem is down to Youtube.
Same workaround also works.

Not everyone has a smart phone or even wants to use it to search and cast. YouTube is on the Humax device to be used "as is" not just there to support other devices.
Using the "X" button shouldn't be necessary, the "back" button should (and used to) work to return to the home page.
Doing a YouTube search directly on the Humax (using the Humax remote) will result in the letter keys disappearing/reappearing.
Just because you accessed the search page, pressed select on the "A" and the played the first video on the list does not demonstrate that YouTube is working correctly. You may be the font of all knowledge but you need to accept that you are wrong sometimes.

Gentlemen it seems to me that the fact remains something has changed recently within the YouTube/Humax coupling that means we can't search for YouTube videos on a Humax PVR as we used to.
