Not much I suspect given the amount of units sold

I've just started getting these 'Not Supported File Format' problems.
I replaced the disk and on startup it started Formatting it. How long should this take on a 500Gb disk? I left it for 30 minutes with no luck.

I formatted a new 2TB disk, it took maybe 5 to max 10 mins. Uncertain exactly as I walked away and left it to run. 30 mins for a 500GB disk is a problem.

I think the odds of me being in the 1% are almost exactly 1%

The HDD was a Seagate that I had salvaged from a failing Humax Youview box. Not sure of the model. It worked fine when attached to a PC. I did remove all partitions. I suppose the problem is probably with the circuit board.

Has it struck you that the failing box was failing due to the failing HDD?
When I replaced the Seagate disk in my 1000S the replacement disk I got from Amazon (the story in full is elsewhere, see below here) was OK on my Windows PC, but would not boot up on the 1000S. I returned it and got a WD disk which was and still is OK.

Not quite, from the posts I have seen, none of the failures relate to the early years of manufacture.

OK, thanks. I'll try another disk. If it fails to format three different disks then I'll call time on it.
