I just joined today as I am having exactly the same problems.

About a week ago, I noticed that several recordings I'd made were dropping sound and video every 15 seconds or so. But when I rewound, the dropouts weren't there. Went to Argos to see what I should do, as they're not in stock anywhere now, and was advised to bring it back for a full refund.

Before I started packing it up, I found this forum with other people having the same problems, so I'm going to hold onto it for a while longer in the hope there's a fix. Although there have also been instances when it just turns itself off when I'm in the middle of watching something

    Anyway, glad I'm not alone.

Not sure we know which transmitter Trog watches (= ITV/C4 region = C&M kit that feeds to transmitter(s) / daughters / relays... (altho I may have missed that snippet of info from him).
There are multiple sets of coders and multiplexers and they are duplicated at diverse sites. Times however many ITV regions there are.
Configuration changes to those aren't made 'ad hoc' but after deep testing usually.
    {BBC always did theirs at their R&D facility with a receiver farm 'offline' first.}
Nor have I read that it has definitely cleared on other viewers' Auras... As mysteriously as the fault appeared...
Nor even why Humax Support admitted culpability and had/still have an 'update' planned to be made available...

I am in the Meridian region, I PMed you details, oddly there is mention that work was being done to the transmitter starting yesterday.

Just a stab in the dark but could this problem have anything to do with 5G? As it is nationwide but only affecting some Aura users do those affected all live near a 5G mast? I know I do.

Well my Aura has now stopped doing it as well so I looked to see if I’d had an update and what a surprise, no.

So I went onto the Freeview Engineering Works website and found a big long list of transmitters having work done covering the whole country and guess what it says under the column “Possible effect on TV reception” it says “Screen may go black on some or all channels”.

Quite why it appears to have affected the Aura more/only who knows but does show again how full of BS Humax customer service is.

I’d be surprised if they have any Aura engineers, let alone an imminent update.

Just another long time cynical Aura owner.

“Possible effect on TV reception” it says “Screen may go black on some or all channels”.

I think that is the possible effect of the engineering work rather than the fault although Aura owners may struggle to tell the difference.

My point was that as mine (and at least one other on here) has now stopped doing it without an update there was no fault, it was enginnering works.

Well, guess what? Today is the first day for at least a week that there have been no dropouts at all. And I can see other people have been saying the same thing. So it's fixed now? I'm glad it sorted itself out before I returned it for a refund, with no idea of what might replace it!

I tried to return my Aura for a refund last week I’ve only had it 5 weeks. Argos said no and to contact manufacturers. I told them my contract was with them not the manufactures. Argos used to have good custom service not anymore.

Did you register your Aura with Humax? you get a 2 year guarantee if you do and they were always pretty good at repairing or often replacing with new if you get any problems. The present black out issue looks like it will be sorted soon as I see others are also reporting it has ended for them now.
