I still don't understand the usefulness of the recording icon myself (or anything in the front panel to be honest). I guess none of you actually trust the Humax to start recording timer events properly then?

One thing that the Humax doesn't seem to do properly is to resume recording if the box is power cycled in the middle of a timer recording (yes, I know you should never do this, but sometimes the box hangs and you have no choice). I don't mind whether it appends it to the pre-power cycle recording or creates a second recording, but it doesn't do either (and also seems to cancel the timer event, which is probably part of the problem).

I guess the one thing to be hopeful about the HDR1000S is that firmware releases are still coming out for it. My previous PVR had 31 firmware releases in the space of 13 months (I am kidding you not - I downloaded them all!) and was then abandoned with a disastrous remote control bug in the final firmware (would often repeat the previous button press instead of the one you just pressed, leading to major torture just trying to nav the UI or even change channels).

Update: ITV-HD is back on channel 119. Thanks for pointing that out.

Stability wise. Yesterday afternoon powered the box on from standby via remote and within 2 minutes it reset and killed the GP qualifying that was recording at the time. Had to power back on manually via the remote. Could not restart recording with red record button or from the planner. Program showed part recorded.

Today all stable so far but no recordings in progress at switch on.

Will not be happy if next Sundays Touring Cars gets interrupted by the same problem as its 7 hours long.....

Lets hope the Humax boffins have a good fix by then.

Also anyone having problems with Channel 4 Player? Tried to watch an E4 program, adverts OK but the program itself was all corrupted with psychedelic colours and bits of screens from the channel we were watching prior to starting the player. Fortunately program is being repeated soon to had to set it up for that.

Join the club, there are 2 or 3 of us now reporting this problem. See separate thread entitled 'All 4' app.

Just registered so I can add my own frustration to this thread. My Humax box started rebooting its little self this week following the update. As a result I've had a couple of failed recordings which is very annoying.

Earlier this week, my new wifi dongle arrived from China (£4.70 off ebay). It's still working fine.

Also just registered to add my twopence worth.
I have the white 1010s. Last Thurs, Friday the machine started rebooting itself every 5 mins or so. This started about 21.30 and lasted for around an hour. I had a recording scheduled for 22.00 on both nights. Last night, Saturday, it switched itself off at 21.42 and I had to turn it back on. That was the only incident.

Interesting that it doesn't happen during the day.

WiFi is fine, using the built in and a net gear wireless extender.

As far as I know the channels, on demand and everything else is OK.

I will repost if there is any change.
