That would be an odd thing to do. Why go to the trouble of selectively blocking some non-Humax dongles, while allowing others. It would be much easier to just block all non-Humax dongles.
More likely (it seems to me) some non-Humax dongles have been unintentionally affected by changes in the upgrade. Not deliberate, but perhaps unlikely to be reversed since only Humax dongles are officially supported.I'm not sure what Humax have done; the problem could be unintentional. They probably wouldn't selectively block some non-Humax dongles but not others. It is more likely that they would whitelist Humax dongles. However, since they have had Humax-badged dongles manufactured that have generic VID and PID values, values that are not uncommonly found in cheap, non-branded dongles, they would be effectively whitelisting these too.
Yes that sounds a likely explanation.
