Lets start with the windows 10 PC. Which may be all you need.

Open Youtube in a chrome window. Search for any content you want to watch and add it to playlist. Start to playback. Look for the cast icon at the bottom of the screen.

Click it and choose your FS device as the casting destination.

You can also play media files on your PC in a similar way to the freesat box. . Drag the file to the chrome icon it will start playing in a tab. The cast icon is at the top of the window.

Thanks very much, Graham, for a very full suggestion, which I will try out tomorrow.
Can I do the selecting on my PC/phone and then transfer the viewing onto my TV, ( via my Humax) to share with family?
Perhaps the answer will become self evident when I try out your suggestion.

It should work with any device with access to the chrome browser. On mobile devices you may have the cast icon without needing chrome from the Youtube app.

It is also possible to cast to Chromecast devices if you have any. Android TV devices including the new Aura box have built in chromecasts.

Any device powered device on your network should be in the list of devices you can transfer the youtube data stream to. Of course you need the TV to have the tv selected to the correct HDMI input to see and hear anything.

The Xbox on the list is my grandsons. He wouldn't be too happy if I started sending my choices to his TV in his bedroom

It's a very handy way to let guests choose personal music choices to the lounge TV from there mobile phones.

Is there any chance Humax will address the problem with the search function. I first raised this in November but still the same. I can view ok on my Firestick so definitely a Humax issue.

FVP 4000T & 5000T owners, if you want to test a fix for this issue then PM me for link to software.

I'll check for PM's on the hour every hour so do not be concerned if you do not get an immediate response.

Will leave topic 'stuck' to top of Forum for a few days

    Cheers Barry.
Is it just an update to the YT software or a full firmware?

I wonder what that has to do with the 4000T/5000T?

Guessing that's the browser used at the Youtube end. I have tried it and it appears to work OK on the few searches I tried.

Although I don't have either of those boxes, I thought I would check my HB-1000S to see if there is any change there. The version of the YouTube app (ie the Opera browser) was dated 6th Jan 2021. The previous version was from 8th Dec 2020. Sadly, even the new version still exhibits the same issues - no search and navigation doesn't work.
