I have to say I am amazed this has not been resolved. Having checked the BBC site they are placing the blame firmly with Humax, let’s hope they get their finger out as this has gone on far to long.

Agreed sma236 but does anyone at either Humax or BBC actually care?I can see this thread goes back a while. I've enjoyed iplayer through my Humax box for a number of years.

There is a simple way to check if it is probably a Humax change or probably a BBC change causing the problem by installing the previous release of the Humax software.

How are you going to stop the iPlayer app from updating its software?

I can add myself to the list of those who are now experiencing the iPlayer content download problem AND the YouTube connection problem. Is there a separate thread for the YouTube problem? To quote from an earlier message in this thread:

YouTube through my box sometimes gives "you are being directed to youtube.com" and then shows 12 grey boxes. Sometimes, YouTube works fine.

If the BBC Player now works, then Humax probably caused the problem with the update.

I think you may be giving people false hope.
This is affecting (apparently) all Humax devices and not all devices have recently had a firmware update. Hunting down the previous firmware and installing it will be pointless.
Especially with the 4000t/5000t as this would most likely cause the other catchup services to fail again (the most recent firmware for these two devices was specifically to repair functionality of several catchup services).

How do you select which software version you load?

I think you would have to go to the Humax support site and download the version of the software it claims to be the latest, but actually isn’t. The latest version was built on 12 June 2020. The version on the support site is the previous version, which was built on 25 April 2019. The manual software update procedure is explained on the site, and involves copying the downloaded software to a USB stick.

What isn’t immediately obvious is how to prevent that old version checking for new versions when it starts up, and automatically overwriting itself with the 12 June 2020 version.

Almost certainly going to be a fruitless task, don't bother.
    See my post above.

I think I was trying to say the same thing, i.e. it’s a fruitless task. I just added one reason why.

To do that would probably involve disconnecting the box from the Internet which would stop all the catchup services from working, making the exercise pointless.

Or maybe working some deep magic, by discovering the IP address of the site that holds the new software version and blocking outgoing connections to it in your router. But yes, I agree, it’s a fruitless exercise.
