So I have connected the humax to another TV. Brand new Sony. Seems much better, but I still occasionally get the handshaking issue.

My conclusion - this box has problems with pretty much every Sony TV that has been been made in the last 10 years.

Now, Humax could point the finger at Sony, but it seems odd that they would engineer their product in such a way that it is incompatible with at least one of the market leading brands out there (and probably with others too).

    Not impressed at all

    It's not just Sony TVs.

Just created a log in to post on this thread as I am having the same issue with my HDR 2000T box and a current range Panasonic TV.
The same issue happens when I have the Humax switched on before I switch to the input hdmi to which the Humax is connected.

Previously I have had to hard reset I.e. In-plug the power from the Humax to reset the sound.

This time I tried something different I turned the Humax back to standby mode and the TV back to the previously connected source.

Then I turned the TV back to the Humax source but without turning on the Humax from standby.
Then when I turned on the Humax again it worked perfectly with sound restored.

To me this confirms the HDMI handshaking and it seems that the Humax likes to have the input switched before it is woken from standby.

I hope this helps others as this is an infuriating glitch.

Oh sorry in addition I have had to get a special HDMI cable to block off the pin 13 issue were the Humax blocks the connection between devices, this now means I can operate any connected peripherals through the automation link system.

    Hope this also helps.

I have this problem on a new HDR 2000T, purchased about 2 weeks ago (24th August 2015) from Humax Direct. I also have another problem (could it be connected?) - a couple of times while watching a recorded programme the screen has turned green and the sound has gone. I can do nothing to correct it. As ever, the only answer has been to switch off for a time (usually overnight) and all is sorted by the next day. My TV is a Sony KDL 20S3020.

I am surprised that this has been going on for years (your correspondence goes back to 2013) and Humax has done nothing.

Simonal, I'm sorry I don't understand what you are saying - I'm probably too old to understand some of the terminology. Could someone put your answer into very simple language like: switch this off; do this ..., then do that ... etc. I would be most grateful for any advice.

    Kind regards

So, I've had a 2000T since January '15 set up to my LG TV with not a single sound issue. I recently had to send it back for replacement, during this time Humax released a software update. My new box arrived and I set up as before, said update was installed. I now have the same issues described in this thread. At any given point my sound will fail and I have to power down the Humax box in order to get it to work. Interestingly, when the sound fails via the HDMI cable it also fails through the optical cable (I have the 2000T connected to a 5.1 Sony system) which I also have never had issues with. To my mind this issue is with the 2000T itself and not the countless TV models listed in this thread; which incidentally don't seem to have issues with any other hardware plugged into them.

I get this occasionally on my 2000T depending on exactly how things are powered up, but ended up in a really infuriating situation last night where I switched on to watch something prerecorded, but it was in the 15 mins "wake up" before the start of a scheduled recording which meant the 2000T would not fully power down again to reset the sound glitch.

I was therefore unable to watch either the recorded program, or as a fallback the one being recorded until the recording was complete and I could do a proper power down.

(No I didn't want to watch live on just the TV as only the 2000T is HD)

Yes I have been getting this as well with my 2000T, I have noticed it only the HDMI output that is affected. The sound on the A/V out puts still work OK, but you have you to disconnect the HDMI lead to use them as you get this annoying box come on the screen saying you cant record from a HDMI source. This seems strange as I have never known a PVR where you cant use both plugged in at the same time, say A/V out to VCR / DVD recorder and HDMI to TV.

What are you using to produce the sound ? The message you are getting suggests you are attempting to use the TV to use scart input for audio and HDMI for video. I would hazard a guess if the analogue audio is connected to a different device like a AV Receiver it wouldn't be an issue. My HDR FOX T2's definitely work OK.

Yes even if you say connect say your TV to the scart of the Humax while the HDMI is still plugged in to you TV you will get this message. The same if you got the HDMI still plugged in to the TV while the scart or A/V out is connected to your VCR or even another TV you will get this message come up. It seems on my 2000T you cant use both A/V outputs and HDMI outputs at the same time.
